Born in 1950 during the last 30 years I’ve been living in a small village near the Dutch border - along with my family. Both daughters have left the house, one is teacher in Cologne, the other still studies in Kiel. Since my wife is a teacher too, school is an important matter on this website as well as in our lives. (At least for 5 more years to come.)
In our school (see link on the main page) I’m responsible for history, politics and geography. Besides that I keep the pc network running (100 pcs) and do my job as webmaster for our blog. The main blog (www-geeste.de) is fed with articles by all teachers and the second blog features our TV-section. We do videos of school life or subjects that seem important to the crew.
I bought my first record in 1964 and music has been my passion ever since. Btw. the first single was: Kinks: All day and all of the night. A while later later I had enough money to buy Bob Dylan’s Subterrenean Homesickblues as my first LP.
In 1996 my musical interest was raised to another level alltogether. I connected to www and my first action was to join several mailing lists. The first email I sent went to David Thomas of Pere Ubu. I asked for the lyrics of his latest cd’s songs and he answered the next day. Immediately I was convinced that this was what I needed. I joined the Neil Young mailing list and the P2 list.
From visiting some artists’ websites I knew that this kind of presentation was the coming thing. So I collected stuff recarding the Mekons and presented it in my own Club Mekon. A while later I got in contact with Jon Langford and the site has kind of developed from this point on.
Through internet conncetions I learned about the Glitterhouse label (I was familiar with their name from John Peel’s shows) and their annual festival. My first visit to the first Orange Blossom Special Festival hasn’t been my last one: It’s an annual date I never miss.
